FirworksChina welcomed the world to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games on Friday with the roll of thunder from two thousand fou drums and a battering of fireworks across the Chinese capital -- from the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square to the National Stadium

The people of China welcomed the world to the Beijing 208 Olympic Games on Friday the 8th of August,2008 by rolling thundrous sounds  from two thousand drums and sophisticated fireworks across the capital.

The Opening ceremony of the games though rocketed with  political activities from different activists was a success to say the least.

The flavour of the ceremony was the attendance of world leaders such as President Bush of  the U.S.A, President Sarkozy of France and other world political giants.

The Opening ceremony was gracious with the Chinese cultural dances and performances from 10,000 participants. The event was formally declared open by the Chinese President, Hu Jintao who also is the chief host of the games.

The Thousands

The moment inwhich 91,000 stadium spectators and billions watching on screens around the world came as eight touchbearers appeared with the Olympic torch. The torch was passed to the legendary Chinese gymnast Li Ning, who was lifted into the air to get the torch on to signal the start of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

The Olympic which is scheduled to last for 16 days will be a show off avenue of talent, skills and experience for 10,500 sportmen and women from 200 countries participating in over 300 games and competing for 1000 medals in sports such as football, swimming indoor sports , marathon, cycling etc.

In view of the present accusation against the Chinese government on issues of human right, it is needless to say that the experience of over 1 billion audience over the world will be a memorable one for the duration of the Beijing 2008 and beyond.

Many keen observers are now asking if the London 2012 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony will match that of the Chinese, considering the statement from the former Mayor of London(Ken Livingstone) on LBC saying that London cannot acheive what the Chinese acheived due to lack of adequate funding.
